Paula Palavecino
Bio
My name is Paula Palavecino. I was born in Buenos Aires. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Advertising, a Masters’ degrees in Journalism, and an MBA.
After a fifteen-year international advertising career, since 2013 photography has been my full-time job. Alongside my personal artistic practice, I direct the art project Experiencia Laberinto, which has presented two exhibitions in 2026. In 2025, I founded the collective Estudio Punto, which has presented and won open calls with two art exhibitions (Thresholds and Alchemy) on five occasions.
My work Coexistence has been exhibited at Pinta/BAphoto for the past four years and at Photo London in 2025.
I trained at Escuela Diego Ortiz Mujica and, in 2025, completed the Visual Arts Program at Proyecto Imaginario. Since 2021, I have been working on my personal projects with curator Ana Sánchez Zinny. I am currently participating in the TAO program with Daniel Fischer.
Statement
In my practice, I use photography as a device to shift the centrality of the object toward the image. What I construct becomes expendable once it has been captured. Yet, by becoming an object itself, the photograph also becomes unstable. This loop reveals the ephemeral nature of things. I collect discarded household pieces from the streets—objects that were once house structures and provided support to domestic spaces. My constructions are on the verge of collapse. I reinscribe these objects within abandoned domestic scenes, seeking to reactivate their capacity to be observed again. I ‘m interested in the transition of things that once held emotional or functional value and, over time, acquire the condition of waste.
