María Angélica Viso

Bio

A visual artist with a robust background that combines the fine arts with academic training in Business Administration and advanced studies in Western Art History and Venezuelan Visual Arts. For fifteen years, she refined her technique at Ofelia de León’s atelier, establishing an international career that includes six solo exhibitions—two of which were held in France and Spain—and participation in more than eighty group shows across the Americas and Europe. Her work has been recognized with the Arts Advocacy Award in Los Angeles and various painting prizes. Following an initial stage focused on oil painting, her research shifted toward sculpture in 2012, evolving from wood to metal—the medium she currently works with between her studios in Caracas and Valencia, Spain.

Statement

Through a personal language she calls "Organic Geometries," Viso subjects traditional geometry and environmental references to processes of abstraction, giving rise to forms defined by soft, free-flowing lines. Her work seeks to capture the essence of the intangible, transforming figurative elements into abstract syntheses that invite the viewer into a personal and emotional experience. Through the strategic use of color and the manipulation of metal, the artist creates unique figures that radiate their own energy, proposing a discovery of the unexpected. Her work functions as a connective device that invites the observer to pause and find new narratives and emotions in forms that are seemingly familiar yet profoundly transformed.
