Melissa Dupont
Bio
A visual artist with a solid academic foundation integrating architecture and the fine arts. She completed her architectural studies in Lima and subsequently earned a Master’s degree from the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid (ETSAM). This dual training has allowed her to develop a national and international career exploring the intersection of structural rigor and the phenomenology of perception. Her work has been exhibited in various institutional and gallery contexts, standing out for a proposal that transcends the boundaries of traditional disciplines. Dupont’s work is positioned as a continuous investigation into how geometry and space can be intervened to generate new visual realities, consolidating her as a relevant voice in contemporary geometric abstraction.
Statement
Her artistic practice stems from architecture as a fundamental discipline for observing and constructing space. Through sculpture, painting, and drawing, Dupont investigates the relationship between structure and perception, analyzing how certain elements can activate visual experiences that destabilize the familiar. Under a minimalist language, her pieces explore how space can be contained, extended, or illusorily manipulated through the deliberate use of geometry and color. Her visual constructions invite the viewer to traverse an architecture that is not physically inhabited but rather experienced through the gaze, creating situations of transit between the tangible and the imagined.
