Statement

Fernando Otero
Fernando Otero's work spans painting, sculpture, objects, and installation, with construction, geometry, and the collection of objects being his primary interests.
His painting has addressed architecture through the themes of the house and the urban journey; likewise, the archetypal sign has been extensively explored in other works.
On the other hand, in his three-dimensional work, using collected objects, Otero generates poetic rhythms laden with meaning and memory, which he transforms into narrative structures. These include series of "rules" with which structural tensions are constructed, and "boxes," where groups of disparate objects coexist, the product of territorial explorations.
The artist comments: "The entire period of geometric and architectural painting sought to generate a protective/organizing space; then, as the next logical step, the stage of objects containing memory began..."
