Juan Iribarren, born in Caracas in 1956, currently lives and works in New York, USA.

Statement

Juan Iribarren's work is conceived as a critical reflection on modern art within two of its traditions: the abstract-geometric, which prioritizes structures and compositional games, and the atmospheric and gestural, which explores light and its various visual effects. Working in painting, drawing, and photography, he explores how these traditions can interconnect and transform one another, resulting in sensual, fertile images in which reticular forms rhythmically embody multiple tonal chords.
