Ramiro Llona

Bio

Ramiro Llona is a Peruvian born Abstract-Expressionist painter who uses color as the expressive and fundamental principle in his work. His palette of vivid color allows the linearly defined and distributed structures stand out on a plane of special depth. Through the use of abstract forms, Llona investigates concepts of existential crisis and human relationships, perceiving a sense of connection in the feelings, tensions, desires and emotions that exist between them.
Llona currently lives and works in Peru.

Statement

With over fifty years of practice, Ramiro Llona explores the balance between gestural expression and geometry in his canvases. His compositions, rich in color and movement, create spaces where interior and exterior interact through flows, illusory perspectives, and non-linear sequences. A critical heir of abstract painting, Llona merges automatism and historical references to produce images full of tension, emotion, and visual play.
