Bio
Santiago, Chile, 1987
Graduated in Visual Arts from the Pontificia Universidad Católica Chile (2010), she was one of the selected for the exhibition "Thresholds", an exhibition that brings together the best works Grade Exam. At the same time, she completed a Diploma in Psychoplastics, Pontifical Catholic University (2010). In 2013 she studied engraving techniques, ceramics and mixed techniques in New York at the School of Visual Arts, Lower East Side Printshop Inc, The Art Student League of New York. Between 2012 and 2015 he participated in collective exhibitions at Sala Audi Boutique, Santiago Chile, Oops Gallery in the "Explora" exhibition, Providencia Foundation in the "Buena Compañía" exhibition, Bloc Workshop in the "Expo Bloc" collective exhibition. Among his individual exhibitions, “Entrever”, NAC Gallery, Chile (2017); "Shelves", Cultural Center of Spain, Chile (2016); “Borders”, Vitacura Civic Center (2014). "The fire, the sea and the child", NAC Gallery, Chile (2020).
Statement
Fontaine's work arises from research on the process and result of traditional engraving. In this way, she rescues the method of adhesion and subtraction of material with which the matrix is made, no longer as a process to record an image that is going to be repeated, but as a result that comes to form the image.
The wax -main material in her work- is intervened or adhered to different oil inks and water, to create interlayered surfaces that are later carved making an image appear. The line is the gesture by which the image is shaped. This obeys the limits of the support, establishing a relationship of continuity or break as dictated by the composition or nature of the image.

El trabajo surge de la investigación en torno al proceso y resultado del grabado tradicional. De esta manera rescata el método de adhesión y sustracción de material con que se elabora la matriz, como un resultado que llega a formar la imagen y no como soporte para impresión.
