Statement
“Symbiosis” Series
This work lies at the intersection of photography, material memory, and temporality. Created through a double exposure in the camera, it fuses the face of an ancient sculpture with that of a contemporary person, producing a hybrid image in which the distinction between body and monument becomes unstable. The portrait appears simultaneously as a living presence and an archaeological relic. This superimposition of visible reality functions as a mechanism of temporal condensation. Within a single image, the fragility of flesh and the permanence of stone coexist, establishing a dialogue between finitude and endurance. The work takes on a second dimension when the photograph is transferred to stone through a lithographic process. The stone ceases to be merely a subject and becomes a medium. A journey is thus established: from the body to the photograph, from the photograph to the stone, and from the stone to paper in the form of a print. In this sense, the work invites reflection on photography as a form of fossilization in humanity’s attempt to resist the passage of time and to transform memory into matter.
