Marisa Brachet-Cota
Bio
Marisa Brachet Cota is an Argentine photographer, art critic, educator, and researcher. Her practice combines analog photographic production with critical reflection on culture, representation, and the processes through which meaning is constructed in contemporary visual production. She works with medium- and large-format cameras, developing projects in which the materiality of the negative, the act of photographing, and the photographic print constitute inseparable dimensions of the work. The visual structure that characterizes her practice articulates a mode of inquiry that establishes new relationships between convention, the avant-garde, and culture. She is a professor at the National University of the Arts (UNA), where she directs a postgraduate diploma program in photography and participates in the education of visual artists at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. She is currently pursuing a Master's degree research project on photography, archives, and artistic-cultural practices, with a focus on heritage and the representation of territory.
Statement
