Eugenio Dunn
Bio
Eugenio Dunn (1917–2008) was a prominent Panamanian painter, considered one of the pioneers of Panamanian art for his dedication to capturing the identity and customs of Panama. He was born on July 21, 1917, in Panama City, to parents of Antillas origin. He trained under the influence of great masters such as Roberto Lewis. To support his family, he combined his painting with music and the creation of advertising posters.
Statement
He was distinguished by his profound exploration of color and light. He worked with different themes and techniques, with an early tendency towards abstraction; however, he placed special emphasis on scenes of everyday life, landscapes of the Casco Antiguo, and typical figures, capturing the essence of national identity.
