(Lima – Peru, 1971)
Studies of Sculpture and Painting at the Catholic University of Peru (1988-1994).
Eleven individual samples between 1997 and 2016; numerous group shows in the United States, Canada, Spain, Germany, Russia and China.
Awards and distinctions: First Prize of the 3rd National Sculpture Salon, Peruvian North American Cultural Institute, Lima (1996); First Prize for sculpture design, National Youth Award, Ministry of Education, Lima (2003); First Prize in the Sculpture Contest, Luis Hochschild Plaut Award, CADE, Lima (2006); First Prize Public Sculpture Competition Peter & Adriana Hobart Award, Hobart Foundation, Lima (2013); Third prize International Marble Sculpture Symposium, Andalusian Marble School and the University of Almería, Spain, (2014).
His sculptural work is represented in public spaces in Peru, Argentina, Canada, Spain, Germany and Vietnam.
Statement
Faithful to abstraction, in his proposal the two widely known aspects of his work converge, defined from the beginning by two premises: the exploration of a rigorous and graceful geometric language, and the exclusive use of metal, particularly steel. . By cutting and folding the metal plate, he creates volumes, voids, reliefs, shadows... achieving unique, vital and forceful pieces. It is worth noting the color with which each piece is personified: in principle the glittering and playful monochrome of steel painted in polyurethane with which it refers us to the forces of nature, and the exquisite earthy and austere coloration of rusty iron closely related to the huacas. and the pre-Columbian pieces, clear referents of his work, revealing an aspiration for balance between matter and the spiritual.
