Statement

My paintings belong to a world of subtle variations—a fragmented landscape shaped by memory, finding new gestures through repetition.
I am drawn to the sun as it opens a timeless suspension within the in-between of everyday life. I observe constancy and delay in things, and in painting itself. Like when a grapefruit peel falls onto a tablecloth and, from a distance, resembles the stem of a flower. Or when I see thin trees dissolving into a dense haze, like a stain.
Hundreds of commonplaces undo themselves as the hours accumulate, thickening the surface of the canvas. In my studio, I mix pigments, pursue old recipes, and make my own oils. I want both small and large stories to be inscribed on the plane of the painting.
